Mae Manas

Mae Manas was born in 1981.

She was born in a Karen tribal village in Mae Hong Son, near the border between Myanmar and Thailand. She previously worked in the logging industry, dragging timber around the Mae Hong Son area, before coming to live at Kerchor Elephant Eco Park with her four-year-old daughter, Mesa. We hope that both of them will continue to live peacefully and happily here with us.

The mahout who takes care of Mae Manas is named Dibogro.
Dibogro’s family has worked as elephant keepers for more than 100 years, passing their knowledge and experience down from generation to generation.

Mae Paruay
25 years old

Mae Paruay was born on 13 April 2001.

She originally came from the border region between Myanmar and Thailand. Her family belongs to the Karen tribe, an ethnic community from Myanmar who are now living in Thailand.

In Karen culture, family extends beyond humans, as elephants are also considered part of the family. Mae Paruay grew up in this close-knit community, where humans and elephants have lived side by side for generations, sharing a deep bond built on trust, respect, and peaceful coexistence.
