Escape the city and find yourself in the middle of a living tradition. Our half-day program is a concentrated burst of culture and nature, perfect for those who want an ethical, adventurous encounter without the long travel times. Here at Kerchor, we don’t believe in saddles or hooks. Instead, we believe in family. Our Karen guides will introduce you to the “grey giants” not as attractions, but as brothers and sisters who have shared our lives for centuries.
Your adventure starts with an introduction to the Thai elephant lifestyle, giving you a window into their complex social bonds. You’ll get hands-on by making herbal medicine balls, learning how we use the forest’s own resources to keep our elephants healthy. The heart of the experience is the nature walk. You’ll follow the elephants through the hills, experiencing the thrill of being close to these massive creatures as they navigate their natural home.
The fun truly begins at the riverbank with a mud spa and bath. It’s a messy, joyful interaction that the elephants love as much as you will. After you’ve helped them scrub down, you’ll share a traditional Thai meal with our team, hearing stories of life in the mountains. This program is a vital lifeline for our park; the income generated supports veterinary care and local community welfare. You’ll leave Kerchor not just with incredible photos, but with the knowledge that you’ve supported a local community that puts the needs of its elephant family first.
