Every time if you would like to interact with the elephants, the caretaker (mahout) has to maintain control over the animal for people’s safety and people need to listen for instructions of the caretaker, in case to prevent to get accidentally hurt from the elephants.
As mentioned quite several times, our elephants are grown up with people. They are not wild elephants. And we looked after them same as people look after theirs puppy, cats or dogs etc. So, how can we should not touch them as we touch* them since they were born?
* Guest can touch, can wash and feed them please just be listening your guide and mahout.
