Mae Manas
44 years old

Mae Manas was born on August 12, 1981, in a Karen tribal village in Mae Hong Son, near the border between Thailand and Myanmar. Earlier in her life, she worked in the forest industry, hauling logs in the Mae Hong Son area.
She later came to Kerchor Elephant Eco Park with her young daughter, Mesa, who was four years old at the time. At Kerchor, Mae Manas and Mesa were given the opportunity to retire from hard labor and begin a new chapter of life in a safe, caring, and natural environment. We hope that both mother and daughter will enjoy a peaceful retirement here, surrounded by love and respect.
Mae Manas is cared for by her mahout, Dibogro, whose family has been elephant keepers for over 100 years, passing down their knowledge and traditions from generation to generation. This deep heritage ensures that Mae Manas receives compassionate, experienced, and respectful care every day.

Mae Boon Yuean
31 years old

Mae Boon Yuean was born on October 18, 1994. She is the mother of two calves, Aree and Eyejung. Boon Yuean was born in Mae Jam District and raised by a Karen hill tribe family. As she grew into a young elephant, the family decided to move her to Mae Taeng to work in an elephant show.
Later, Boon Yuean and her family were invited to stay at Kerchor Elephant Eco Park, where they could retire from working life and live in a more natural and peaceful environment.
The Karen family who now care for Mae Boon Yuean and her children is Khun Jirayus’s family, a lineage of elephant keepers with more than three generations of shared history between humans and elephants. Their deep knowledge, respect, and compassion ensure the well-being of Boon Yuean and her calves.
At present, Koko is Mae Boon Yuean’s close companion, and the two share a calm and trusting bond.

Aree
12 years old

Aree was born on November 22, 2013. She is the elder daughter of Mae Boon Yuen and has always been deeply attached to her mother, preferring to stay close by her side.
Aree has a strong personality and trusts very few people. The only person who can truly guide her is her mahout, who has cared for her since the day she was born. In the past, when Aree was separated from her mother, she showed signs of depression and anxiety. Fortunately, her condition has improved, and she is now growing into her teenage years with greater confidence and emotional stability.
Aree is friendly toward humans and enjoys gentle interactions. She is lovingly cared for by her mahout, Jirayus, and the two share a close bond, more like best friends than caretaker and elephant.

Mae Ploy
26 years old

Mae Ploy was born on January 26, 2000, in Tak Province, Thailand. As a young elephant, she was forced to work in the logging industry along the border between Thailand and Myanmar. During this time, she was taken to work in Myanmar, an area known for its dangers. Tragically, Mae Ploy stepped on a landmine, resulting in the loss of her right hind leg.
After being rescued from the border area, Mae Ploy received intensive treatment and rehabilitation at an elephant hospital for over a year. Recognizing her need for a safe and peaceful life, Kerchor Elephant Eco Park stepped in to help her find a new family and retire from all hard labor.
Mae Ploy was warmly accepted by the Mae Boon Yuean family, who became her new and loving home. As of 2024, Mae Ploy is living happily with us at Kerchor Elephant Eco Park. We hope she continues to enjoy a life filled with happiness, good health, and care within her new family.
Mae Ploy is lovingly cared for by her mahout, Platoo, who looks after her with dedication and compassion every day.

In Karen culture, family extends beyond humans alone—elephants are considered part of the family as well. Mae Paruay grew up in this close-knit community, where humans and elephants have lived side by side for generations, sharing a deep bond of trust, respect, and coexistence.
